Student Housing in Ås, Norway
A new student 'house' is proposed through the redevelopment of an existing office block, increasing the resident town centre population and helping the Norwegian University of Life Sciences project a presence into the heart of Ås, Norway.
Interior structural bays are removed, providing space for a communal winter garden which forms the focus of a dynamic sequence of shared spaces. Dual aspect shared living and social spaces are distributed around each level, providing visual connections between courtyard winter garden and the outside. The connection of shared spaces supports a strong sense of community and encourages interaction. The building is re-clad, reinforcing a common architectural identity together with other new town centre buildings.
The proposal forms part of our Europan 12 submission for the redevelopment of the town centre of Ås, Norway.
